We encourage you to participate in this time-honored tradition; enter the competition and show off your talents at the North American Festival of Wales Eisteddfod competitions!
Competitions include Singing, Recitation, Visual Arts, Harp and Limericks, something for all ages and skill levels. See Guidelines (above) for full information on age, entry and performance requirements. All winners will receive cash prizes and certificates. |
We deeply appreciate the devotion and the generosity of the following individuals and organizations in financing these awards for the 2025 Eisteddfod.
- All those competing must be registered for a Festival Pass, or an Eisteddfod only Pass (see entry form)
Limerick Composition Competition - at the Festival!

- A fun competition open to Festival attendees!
- Guidelines (including "first lines") and entry forms will be available at the Registration table.
- Submission (in-person) by Sat., August 30th at 12 Noon.
- Adjudicators will choose "finalists" for popular voting at the Noson Lawen!
Visual Arts Competition:

New to NAFOW this year, developed in collaboration with the Ottawa Welsh Society. The three competitions on offer are: Beginners’ Solo, Advanced Solo and Ensemble. ~ see guidelines for entry details

Competitors not fully conversant in the Welsh language may declare as a “Learner” when entering (online or via walk-on). Adjudicators will then be instructed to take this into account when evaluating performances.

Winner: $75 and the opportunity to sing in the Sunday Worship Service.
Second place: $50. Third place: $25.
Solo Voice / Semi-Professional: The Welsh North America Prize
(Formerly: The David Morris Award.) ~ Sponsored in 2025 by Ian K. Samways.
Winner: $500, with the possibility of an additional scholarship of $3000 for travel to compete at the 2026 National Eisteddfod of Wales or 2026 International. Eisteddfod. Winner is also invited to sing an appropriate piece in the NAFOW Sunday Worship Service.
Runner-up: $250.
